Walking away from
the noisy down town , we went to the Mu-Zha Market in Wen-Shan District
. Across the green trees, we could see four indistinct words(Chinese characters):Mu Zha Market.
In a
distance ,we could hear the "Da Da" sound. This was , not from chickens or ducks in the market ,
people familiar with Chinese Chess realized that was the clicking of chess.
Yes, this is the place we want, the Chess place in Mu Zha Market.
Walking more closely, we found it's just a simple grocery store, where things like
drinks, cookies and wines were sold.Nothing unusual.
But a closer look amazed us:
five or six games were being played. There were three or four people around
each table. Two of them are playing, and the others are watching. Each of us choose a
table to observe. Their start period and kill method. These people
are really high-level chess players. Playing chess seemed to become an instinctive reaction for them.
Their pace was very fast, and none of them spent much time in thinking about the next move.
It's magic that we ran into an alumni of CK(Chien Kuo Senior High school) surnamed
Liu.(the man in white in the picture).
Fifty years old now, he always plays chess here.
Of course we started a little interview with him.
Mr. Liu said he found this place by chance , and it has been decades since he began his
chess playing here.People came here to play chess mostly for fun , and the
reason why thay can play so well was experience.
We went on to talk with the owner of this grocery store. (The man in left of
picture) In the beginning, he started a grocery store,
and furnished the place to let people play chess because himself was a chess lover.
At time flied and chess players gathered , they established the "Mu Zha Chess Association"
they established the "Mu Zha Chess
Association".
When we were about to leave , our dear alumni told us : " People who always play Chess would not get
Alzheimer's Disease". Maybe this is what all these grandpas have been thinking.
